it always makes me smile when americans complain about gas prices, the uk we pay over twice as much, sometimes more than 4 times the amount. our fuel is 99p a litre, $2 a litre,

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4685213.stm this was last year, but the prices are still the same..

Three garages in the Western Isles are now charging the landmark price, which adds up to more than £4.50 a gallon, roughly $9 a gallon.

I've always figure that those numbers were for comparison purposes, and I'm certainly not going to expect lab numbers with real world conditions.

That being said, my Liberty is actually getting 22 highway. Not that it matters, as I'll be working from home soon and parking the boat for most of the day.

Yeah well Mercurior, us Americans travel much further in our cars than you do.

For many of us, driving 20 miles/32 kilometers is a one way trip to work, and the only way to get to work. Actually I know some people who drive 30-40 miles/48-64 kilometers one way to work every day.

To get to my parents, its 1800 miles/2,897 kilometer round trip by car. (I could fly and rent a car, but I'd still be driving 336 miles/541 kilometers to and from the airport once I got there). For you that'd be the equivalent of driving from London to Canary Islands, Spain. Or flying, and still driving from London to Paris, France. (distance chart)

So while gas is cheaper, we also have longer distances to travel than most of you. We have a big country, and traveling it costs a lot of money. That is why we bitch.

we have less space but we get charged more.. if only we could somehow make it less space and less charge for all of us..

of course the petrol producers are making vasy profits, on our misery..
